Tribute: Lauralynn White Solo Exhibition

How do we distill the world? What is important? Dwelling in the depths of our souls are the answers. We know the truth.

The primary focus of my work lies in exploring the relationship between our environment and ourselves, both as individuals and collectively as a species. I endeavor to expose the fragility and celebrate the importance of our planet’s ecosystems through the vulnerability of the naked human form integrated in the landscape. I paint and draw incessantly, but I also use other natural materials, mostly stone, clay, and wood, to create. My work is a reflection and expression of my own personal experiences in this sacred natural world that surrounds us.

It is my hope that my vision of our place in the ecosphere will cause others to reflect on their own relationship with the environment, to engage in meaningful conversations around conservation and to treat our Earth with reverence and respect.   

Lauralynn White graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She is an exhibiting artist, curator and instructor. White facilitates figure drawing for Alma Art and Oliva Gallery in Chicago, IL and teaches Special Studies in Chautauqua, NY. She is former Gallery Director of both Contemporary Art Gallery, Chautauqua, NY and GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, Reading, PA. She exhibits worldwide and is a member of National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) and Woman Made Gallery (WMG). She lives and works in Chicago, IL, Chautauqua, NY and Reading, PA.
